Dinner and Dialogue Series

Twelve Strangers, One Conversation, Countless Ideas

You’re invited to Dinner!

The Collision Project is a series of dinners—Collision Dinners—where a group of strangers from across Birmingham gather over a meal and participate in a facilitated conversation about a variety of topics. Topics like jobs. Or education. Or equality. Each dinner will begin with the same question: “Talk about a time your mind was changed.” And then, the trajectory of the conversation will be determined by the participants with the help of a facilitator.

Each dinner will be recorded (participants will remain anonymous except for some general data) and the recordings will be synthesized into themes and patterns that will be shared with the community including dinner participants, businesses, policy makers, and non-profit leaders to help everyone make decisions and conceptualize strategies that better serve our community.

Dinners will be hosted at faith organizations throughout Birmingham. Transportation and on-site childcare will be offered. And we’ll provide dinner, too, of course!

Your perspective matters. Regardless of where you live or what you do, you have lived experiences that shape your view of our community, our challenges, and our opportunities. Come to dinner with your story. Be ready to share. Be ready to listen to others.

When people come together to learn from each other, it creates understanding that leads to empathy, and energy that leads to action. Our trained facilitators will ensure dinner participants engage in thoughtful dialogue that broadens perspectives and fosters a culture of innovation through collaboration.

You. We need you. We’re looking for a diverse group of people to attend Collision Dinners. One of our community’s greatest advantages is our diversity; we want dinner guests who each bring a unique experience and perspective to the table so that we can begin the process of conceptualizing innovative solutions that benefit everyone. You can be young or old. You can have a job or be unemployed. There is a seat at the table for everyone. All that is required to participate is an open mind and a genuine desire to engage with and learn from others.
